As you read this we will have completely vacated our old building at 2580 NW Upshur. The facility was a landmark of Portland production, and held happy memories for so many of us in the production community.

But let's not get too nostalgic. Parking was a nightmare.

Do you have any idea how many sheets of 4' X 12' drywall it takes to face 140 linear feet of cyc wall that's twenty feet high?

If you do, we'd appreciate it if you'd pass that along.

You know how you always pay very close attention when the flight attendant is explaining how your seatbelt works and why the bag on your oxygen mask may not look like it's inflating?

 Or maybe you have no idea what we're talking about because you're usually watching Groundhog Day on your phone.

 The truth is you'd be paying better attention if you were the pilot and she was explaining how to fly the plane.

A little girl is concerned that her individual efforts to clean up planet Earth are not adding up to much.

She thinks about enlisting the help of Mr. Clean and Wonder Woman, but doesn't have their contact information. (Haven't we all been there.)

However, she does have Timber Joey's number. And when she calls him up the Portland Timbers' mascot is happy to help out.

We have to stop and remember how much we've told you about our newer, bigger, better production facility.

Have you already heard us mention that we're remodeling a gigantic new space over at 2330 NW 31st Avenue?

OK. Didn't want you to hear about that from somebody else.

Move over Honey Badger. It's KFC's Honey Bear.

Well actually, it's Colonel Bear. And he looks a lot like those little bear-shaped honey dispensers.

These days, when people greet us, they don't ask about how we're doing or if we found our lost cat. All they care about is the new facility.

How far along is it?

When will it be done?

Can we be first to book a session?

Fortunately, it's hard to hurt our feelings, and we do appreciate that the new soundstage is going to be a pretty big deal for production in Portland.

Business travel can be a real pain. Especially when you're sitting in front of a small child who wants to use your seatback as a leg press.

Producer Wendy Peyton wanted to capture this and other wonderful flight cabin experiences for business travel client TripActions. Since you can't shoot during an actual commercial flight (the meal service carts are almost always in the way), we worked with Scroggins Aviation Mockup & Effects of Las Vegas to bring in a cutaway section of a Boeing 737/757 passenger cabin.

You can't get much tougher than 5.11 Tactical Gear (pronounced five-eleven). The company got its start back in the sixties when founder and mountaineer Royal Robbins couldn't find pants that were suitable for climbing. So he developed his own and sold them through his boot and clothing company.

We've been testing out our new Digital Key green screen from The Rag Place in Hollywood, CA (where they make the movies). And we just had our first client shoot with it, with great results.

Known as "digi-comp," this type of screen is the industry standard for film and TV.

On Monday we took possession of the building at 2330 NW 31st. And this morning at 7AM we started cutting up the concrete floor (for plumbing) and tearing out the hanging ceiling.

This new location is for real.
